Bruce Millard is a practicing Architect in Sandpoint, Idaho, and presently heads the Studio of Sustainable Design. His experience in Architecture and Construction spans a period of over 30 years. Prior to moving west, he studied, taught, and worked in the field of Architecture and Urban Design in Philadelphia. Being a founding member and president of the Inland Chapter, he is deeply involved in the Guild activities, and sustainable design and education in the northwest.
A pioneer in passive solar energy and energy conservation design, Bruce's interest in sustainable issues dates to the early 1970's. The early focus of his work was based on passive solar design, urban renovation, community based design, and the use of recycled materials in construction. Present architectural focus is centered on the design and use of healthy, recycled, and sustainable building materials within personal environments, businesses and livable communities. Recent activities also includes lectures and workshops on: Straw bale construction, urban & community renovation design, and healthy / sustainable design.
