The Kirkland DUO are the first green houses in Kirkland! thy are also the most beautiful houses in Kirkland on the market now. These are a result of two years effort of a dedicate group of top architect, designers, engineers and vendors and even the city of Kirkland to showcase and set the standard how a high quality modern green house can be build in a relatively affordable way.
All our houses are certified 4-Star BUILT GREEN® and ENERGY STAR HOME

“There is no excuse for new construction homes not to be zero energy. This is not rocket science. It is simply good design, tight construction, higher than code insulation and maximizing solar exposure.”
To reach this added goal which came late in the design and permitting process, the decision was made to maximize both the PV system and interior insulation.

Stories:
None of the contractors had worked on a LEED project before. After Russ noticed the framers using conventional methods he provided them with framing elevations for the exterior walls and showed them how to do two stud corners and reduce headers. By the end of the project they said they planned to incorporate advanced framing techniques in all their future jobs. The electrical contractors jumped into the process and did extensive research into LEDs and advanced lighting technology. He installed a 220V outlet in the garage and even placed a small plaque above it indicating it was for a “Plug In Vehicle”. The General Contractor was quite impressed with the third party testing and what it revealed.

Rollingbay Cottages / Eco Building Sites
Two home sites were short platted through the City of Bainbridge Island following strict environmental standards. The sites are conveniently located near the desirable neighborhood service center of Rollingbay and are ready for ecologically oriented development.
Rollingbay Land Company www.rollingbaylandco.com is developing the property with the environmental goals:
2 Homes: 1 – 1800-2000 sq ft family size. 1 – 1250-1600 sq ft for single or couple.
Homes for the Future: High Performance Healthy Homes.
