Intern for Green Building Events Support

Job Description

The Northwest Green Home Tour is an annual educational event, open to the
public, produced by the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild, that showcases local,
sustainable, and green new homes, remodels, and energy retrofits in the greater
Seattle area. Join us as a volunteer intern, make an impact and build your network
of green building thought leaders in the region.

Purpose

The NWEBG produces two flagship events annually. Northwest Green Home Tour
provides an opportunity for members of the community to learn about sustainable
building practices from the people and businesses that support it, including
builders, contractors, suppliers, and green homeowners. It also serves as a way for

building professionals to engage with the general public. The Green Building Slam
is a TED-talk like event with ten, 10-min inspiring presentations about green
building innovations in the Pacific Northwest.

Position Overview:

You will work virtually with the Program Lead and Coordinator of these two
programs to drive these core EcoBuilding Guild events to their successful
completion. You will assist in collecting and tracking key data such as sponsors and
site hosts, potential speakers, timelines and major milestones plus some basic
reporting of project status to our EcoBuilding Guild Committee stakeholders and
Board of Directors. You should be comfortable following-up with architects,
builders, suppliers, tradespersons ,and homeowners both for initial contact and to continue the conversation as needed both over the phone and over e-
communications of various sorts.

Duration:

  • Now through October 31, 2022 (will consider seperate candiates for each of
    the events. Green Home Tour now thru May 31, 2022 and Green Building Slam
    Mar 1 thru Oct 31, 2022)
  • 6 – 8 hours a week (primarily virtually)

Specific duties include:

  • Schedule and attend virtual project team meetings, capture meeting minutes
    and document action items/next steps/owners
  • Follow up with action item owners on their assignments
  • Assist program lead with updating the project roadmaps, tracking issues and
    task owners
  • Assist with documentation and creation of standard processes as needed
  • Administrative duties may include picking up and delivering printed collateral
  • Attendance at all project status meetings
  • Attendance at both tour dates and assisting with trouble shooting as needed

Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Office Suite, gmail, and general computer skills
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, team player orientation
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Able to pivot as needed on priorities
  • Interest in sustainability, the built arena and program management
  • Prefer some college, but not required
  • Prefer experience with WordPress websites, not required
  • Must possess a computer/tablet, internet, and ability to make/receive phone calls
