Member Spotlight: Chris Harrison

Chris Harrison grew up in Montana where many family members and friends worked in the logging industry. From an early age, he felt concern about the impacts that
logging had on the local ecosystem and innately knew that he did not like the thought of so many trees being cut down without proper management. As he grew older, this instinct for resource conservation led him to look into the impacts of climate change and efforts to preserve the earth’s forests. His research drew him to the rainforests of the Amazon, temperate rainforests such as the Tongass National Forest and especially the Boreal Forests which are larger than the Amazon. He was driven to figure out what he could do to make a difference. After years in the software industry, thanks to connections from his construction-oriented family, Chris discovered that he could introduce green building materials to support sustainable forest management and promote alternatives to the deforestation of these important forest biomes.
Four years ago, he founded Cedheco. A company focused on sustainable building products, including the likes of bamboo and cork flooring as well as locally sourced thermally-modified and reclaimed wood, and more. “So far, it’s going pretty well. Every year we find additional resources and are always learning new things”, says Chris.
Joining the Guild has helped him make new contacts, build business and, most importantly to Chris, build community with kindred spirits working in fields that are, at times, directly related to his work, but also affiliated disciplines that all work toward creating a healthy and sustainable world. Cedheco’s motto is “Eco-friendly solutions for a sustainable planet” What is yours? Cedheco: 425 503-4370/sales@cedheco.com
